OK, I waited a week and my buddies weren't able to come over and help. To
be fair, one of them was in the hospital, so I guess I can forgive him!
I still, however, want to get this project going, and to do that, I need to finish
the practice kit, so I spent some time working on that today, after work.
I laid out the bottom skin and the spar, the end ribs, and the trailing edge stiffener,
to see how it was all going to fit together. Please notice here that the two
end ribs ARE facing the right direction now... something they won't be in tomorrow's
installment (long story).
I got a call on Wednesday that my adjustable set holder for the pnuematic squeezer
had arrived (finally). Avery had it on back order, as the units were at the
platers getting hardened... I guess that's important when you're putting 8 tons
of pressure on the end of the thing! Notice the price... ouch. But a
definite timesaver over using those stupid washers to get the spacing just right.
Nobody said good tools were cheap. This set holder came with instructions
saying it was a new design for 2006; the square end that sits down inside the squeezer
is shaped so it can only be inserted one way, guaranteeing proper orientation.
Drilling the end rib stiffener plates to the spar....
All clecoed together... and, the end ribs in backwards! I didn't discover
the error until later the next day, as you'll see. It's finally starting to
look like an airplane part!
