I started to get nervous about touching "real airplane parts" before having some experience with how these tools would behave, so I ordered the $35 practice kit from Vans.  Here's the pieces:

 

I also started to inventory the real kit, as you must notify them with a certain time period if anything is missing... after that grace period expires, you must BUY any missing parts.




All kinds of neat stuff packed into the boxes.  You can see the white gel-coated fiberglass tips that will go on the ends of the elevators/horizontal stabilizer and at the top of the vertical stabilizer and rudder.




This didn't focus very well, but family members "signed" the lead counterweights with well wishes...
