Tuesday, January 10, 2006 - There be METAL here!

My wife called me at work around 2:00 to tell me that a present arrived via Fedex... boy, the rest of the day went SO SLOW!  :-)

Anyway, I got home and we took a peek...  the boxes seem different than what I've seen before with other builders... no red arrows spray painted on.   No '$$$" spray painted on.  We've got nice, pre-printed boxes with "FRAGILE:  HIGH DOLLAR AIRCRAFT PARTS.  HANDLE WITH CARE" nicely printed on them.

First thing I did was comment on the fact that the arrows are not pointing in the specified direction...

So we laid them down (GENTLY!) on the floor, and I grabbed a box knife.  As you may notice, I'm still in 'work clothes'... somethings can't wait!  (To be honest, I didn't head straight out to the garage when I got home--my wife had to finally say "haven't you gone and looked yet?!" before I went out there).

And there's the first airplane part!  Gosh, that one looks like it's already DONE!  There were many, many more... we had someplace to be, so we stopped there... I'll unpack it this weekend and inventory with help from some of my pilot buddies.... besides, I need to go buy some of those little drawers to hold all the rivets.

Speaking of rivets, I need to take a picture of some of them with something like a penny next to them for reference.  They were much smaller than I thought they'd be... almost like a grain of rice!  I hear Van's sends you "just enough" of everything... hope I don't drop a rivet!
